Social Welfare Development

One of the national agencies whose major function has been devolved to the City per the Local Government Code of 1991 is the Department of Social Welfare and Development. By virtue of its creation, the City Social Welfare and Development Office (CSWDO) has been mandated to care, protect, rehabilitate and empower the socially, economically and physically disadvantaged sectors in the City. Thus, its immediate mission is to meet its clients' emergency needs brought about by natural and man-made disasters, and help individuals in crisis who need immediate attention.

The clientele served by these social welfare organisations are the children, youth, women, disabled, solo parents and the elderly. The City complies with RA 6972, an act requiring every barangay to have a day care centre. In 2000, all barangays of San Jose Del Monte had at least one-day care centre (DCC).

Aside from the social welfare service accessible through the local government, a total of twelve social welfare agencies provide social services in the City. The table below shows the list of these agencies, the type of services they offer, the target areas, clientele served, number of social workers, and funding sources.
